Man oh' man what a brutal day to fish. Temperatures in the tournament trailer were 101 degrees at 2:00pm and it didn't get any better leading up to weigh-in with 110 degrees registered inside at 3:30.
Although it was a tough day for most as usual a few teams figure out something different and get on some decent fish.
Scott Hamrick and Roger Hoover took top honors today with five bass weighing 14.80 lbs. anchored by big bass of the tournament at 5.71 lbs. They took home a total of $1,660.00 for the day and credited a jig for their catch. By cashing a check today they join Andy and Chuck Montgomery as the only teams to win money every year in the National Bass Circuit and also top the $20,000.00 mark in career earnings. Great job guys!!!
In second were Joel Masters and Reece Spencer with a limit weighing 14.74 lbs. That was after a penalty of .25 lbs. for one deceased bass. They still took home a check for $900.00 for their finish. They too credited a jig for their success.
Taking third were Andy Montgomery and Louie Hull with five bass weighing 13.47 lbs. good for $600.00 and then added another $132.00 for 2nd big bass of the tournament. They used Shooter Jigs for their catch.
Taking fourth was the team of Ricky Williams and Larry Daniels with a limit weighing 13.45 lbs. worth $400.00 with Jeff Queen and Carroll Queen weighing in a 13.42 lb. limit good for $320.00 in fifth.
Sixth place went to Rusty White and Ron Farrow with five fish weighing 11.06 lbs. for a $220.00 payday.
Taking seventh were Tony and Linda Hatten fishing with us for just the second time this season. They weighed in five bass for 10.85 lbs. for a $210.00 payday.
The final money spot went to David Stanbery and Scott Stanbery with 10.72 lbs. worth $190.00.
The next stop for the Catawba anglers is set for Lake Norman on 6/29 from Pinnacle Access. If the temperatures continue like this we will adjust the weigh-in time to 2:00pm. If we do that we will notify everyone the morning of the tournament. We don't like to loose fish if at all possible but we don't want to loose any anglers either. We had several teams leave early with one seeking medical attention.
