Southern Anglers Challenge Results, Lake Wylie, 20 January 2007Lake Wylie, January 20, 2006 - What started as a miserable morning with below freezing temperatures ended with red hot bass fishing for the anglers this past Saturday in the third event of the year for the Lake Wylie Division. The twelve hardcore anglers who braved the cold weather returned to the scales with what has been some of the best weights produced on Wylie this year. Leading all weights was the monstrous sack of fish brought in by John George with 22.45lbs of chunk largemouth. Fishing solo in this event George managed to also catch the big fish of the day a 6.02lb. beast of a fish. For his angling efforts George took home a 1st place check of $650 and big fish pot of $120. Coming in second with impressive bag of identical toads was the team of Mike Stone and Tony Campbell. Mike and Tony took home second place honors with 19.81 lbs. and a $310 check. These two teams were tight lipped on how they dooped these incredibly sacks of fish, but both admitted that these fish came from the same 100 yard stretch. Finishing just out of the money was the team of Michael Sprouse and Steven Hicks with 18.15 lbs that would on a normal day take first place honors. Rounding out the top five was team TJ Harris/Reid McGinn with 15.52lbs and team Dempsey Carter/Ted Mobley with 15.32lbs of fish.
