Buzzbaits, what line do you use?

Postby LTTrick » Thu May 15, 2014 7:31 pm

As with swim jigs, I see a lot of difference of opinion.

This year I have went to 30# braid with a rod that has a nice soft tip.

I know a lot of people use mono which I used to because some say it is better because the bass will get the stinger hook and main hook in better plus it won't break the buzzbait.

Your thoughts? Also what rod do you use?

im using 20lb mono on a 7' Kam's Custom parabolic action rod(its fairly soft). i tried braid years ago and had issues with fish coming off on a fast moving bb. on a slow bb i think you'd be ok with it but soft rod will be critical.

I use 14 lb Trilene XL. Mono is the only way to go for buzzbaits or spinnerbaits. The baits create a lot of leverage and my experience is that the mono's stretch results in fewer fish throwing me off. I like that mono floats as well.
