Jerkbait Set-up

Postby squarebill10 » Fri Mar 27, 2015 11:13 pm

I wanted to get suggestions and also see what kind of set-ups are being used for jerk baits... (brand not necessary) Flouro vs Mono, lb test, etc..

Currently, I am using a 7' Fast, ML action, 7.1.1 reel on 8 lb flouro - Any suggestions? I have had some luck with schooling fish on a thread fin shad pattern, but that is about it.

Also, everything I read says jerk baits should be reserved for sunny and clear water conditions, but has anyone had success in stained water? If so, any suggestions on jerk bait color in stained water?

Thanks in advance.

my RW Series Jerkbait/Small Topwater rod is a 6'9" i use a 6.4:1 gear ratio and 12 or 15 mono.

absolutely, they will work in dirty water, see my percy prriest report and you'll also see the color suggestion :)
